Popis: ChiropticenesTMare a novel class of designer molecular switch materials, which are triggered by a combination of both light and electric field. Chiropticenes contain an optically active (chiral) center and as a consequence provide two accessible equal energy states resembling the molecular elements of binary logic. Functioning as a chiroptical dipole switch, Chiropticenes promise broad applications in emerging optoelectronic and molecular electronic technologies. A synthetic protocol for the preparation of Anthraquinone dye based Chiropticenes is presented and their thermal/optical switching behavior in solid state is described.
