This article considers the questions of periodical control applied to fiber-optic communication links. To achieve high availability parameters, a pre-failure detection procedure is used, followed by a repair of the damaged link. Based on the theory of Markov processes, the equations for unavailability coefficients are derived and compared for two scenarios - with the pre-failure detections and without the pre-failure detections under various control periods. |
