Homogeneous mono- and bimetallic palladium based catalysts for the carbonylation of allyl chloride

Popis: PdCl2(TPPTS)2 [TPPTS=(m-C6H4SO3Na)3P] is used as catalyst in the carbonylation of allyl chloride. This catalyst exhibits very high activity and selectivity in the dilute alcoholic–aqueous NaOH/toluene medium under atmospheric pressure of carbon monoxide at 40°C. Ethanol plays an important role for increasing the catalytic activity and selectivity of PdCl2(TPPTS)2. The turnover reaches 2.7×104 (mol CO/mol Pd) in 21.5 h when the mole ratio of substrate/catalyst is 3×104. A synergic effect was observed when a second transition metal compound was added to the catalytic system.
