Popis: An Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Program committee was formed at a public university in south-central United States to develop programs for employees and students as required by the Drug Abuse Prevention Programs Act of 1987. To determine the status of drug usage on the campus, students (N=735) completed a 78 item questionnaire that assessed knowledge of alcohol, frequency and quantity of alcohol consumption, consequences of alcohol use, and usage of 10 drugs in addition to alcohol. Significant differences on the dependent variables were found by both sex and race. A series of recommendations and strategies for alcohol and drug education programming based upon survey results included providing more extensive information on alcohol, reinforcing students who choose not to drink, and providing intervention programs for students with alcohol problems.
