Popis:	The occurrence of shock waves in an elastic pipeline that may develop from the solitary Gaussian or hyperbolic waves is considered. We show that the parameters of these waves (the length of path and the time of occurrence) do not differ significantly from shock waves that form from the sinusoidal ones. Also examined is the evolution of the shock wave surface of discontinuity.
