Popis: | The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is revising air pollutant emission rules for new municipal waste combustors and preparing guidelines for existing combustors. These rules, to be proposed in late November 1989, will limit emissions of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs), carbon dioxide, and acid gases (HCl and SO2) as well as require tighter control of particulate matter emissions. Five modern units were tested to characterize or determine the performance of representative combustor types and associated air emission control systems in the regulatory development process. Test results for uncontrolled (combustor outlet) and controlled (flue gas cleaning system outlet) PCDDs and PCDFs are reported along with pertinent information on other tests. |
