Popis: The utility of employing discrete point input constitutive data (effective stress vs. effective plastic strain) for finite elastoplastic response problems is examined. A difficulty that occurs when the response effective plastic strain passes points of slope discontinuity in the input data is noted, and an algorithm that circumvents this difficulty is introduced. This algorithm has been successfully incorporated in the DYNA3D hydrocode and the NIKE3D structural mechanics code. (MM)
