A large number of studies have shown that the brief three session Family Check-Up intervention is effective in promoting children’s social and behavioral development and in reducing problem behaviors. Research in this area has begun to examine the effectiveness of this program through real-world implementation studies. This brief report describes how a community-based implementation of the Family Check-Up is associated with reduced healthcare utilization, specifically acute care services including emergency department, inpatient, and urgent care utilization. Future implementation trials may benefit from including administrative data to examine the outcomes of the Family Check-Up in conjunction with cost and service utilization data. |
