Popis: | Three phytotoxins, ascochytine [1], pyrenolide A [2], and a new metabolite hyalopyrone [3], were isolated from cultures of Ascochyta hyalospora, the causal agent of lambsquarters leaf spot. All three toxins were phytotoxic on nine weed species. Ascochytine and pyrenolide A caused dose-dependent increase in electrolyte leakage from lambsquarters leaf, inhibited most bacterial and fungal growth, and also inhibited sorghum root growth |
