Popis: | Thin films of orthorhombic (α phase) MoO3 on glass have been prepared using a suspension of monomolecular layers of MoS2 in water. First, oriented films of MoS2 are spread from a water-organic interface where the monomolecular layers are collected, and then they are thermally oxidized in an oxygen atmosphere at 470°C. X-ray diffraction shows that the resulting MoO3 films have a preferred orientation with their basal planes parallel to the substrate. The same method may be employed to obtain oriented films of other transition metal oxides as well. |
