Popis: This paper describes the implementation and application of fracture mechanics methodology into a probabilistic structural analysis computer program NESSUS. In particular, crack growth fatigue life assessment methodology is integrated with structural finite element analysis and advanced probabilistic algorithms. The methodology is applicable to structures with a known crack path and crack geometry configurations with known weight, Green's or influence function and governed by linear elastic fracture mechanics. The existing probabilistic analysis methods can be used with the new fatigue life assessment capabilities. The resulting program provides a useful tool for life evaluation of complex structures subject to uncertainties in crack geomeny, structural dimensions, crack growth material properties, structural material properties, and loading. Several examples are presented to demonstrate the methodology. Potential extensions are discussed.
