Measurement of the beam energy spread from a microwave ion source

Popis: A 2.45 GHz microwave ion source has been tested on the Los Alamos National Laboratory 55° isotope separator. The advantages of the traditional RF ion source (high ionization efficiency and low gas consumption) are retained. In none of the tests was there evidence of energy spread resulting from the oscillatory field.
