Profiles of transmutation isotopes formed in solids by irradiation with charged particles: Formation, analysis and use

Popis: Profiles of transmutation radioactive isotopes formed in the compounds A III B V (GaAs, GaP, InAs), in CuInSe 2 , YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7− x , PbZr 0.54 Ti 0.46 O 3 , and in Zr by irradiation with high-energy protons, deuterons, 3 He and 4 He nuclei are studied. Two types of profiles are observed: the monotonous curves and curves with a flat maximum. It is shown that the form of the profile is determined by the relation between the initial irradiation energy and the position of the maximum of the energy dependence of the cross section of the nuclear reaction by which the isotope is created. The profiles of transmutation isotopes are used for the study of diffusion of these isotopes and for determination of energy dependence of the nuclear reactions cross section.
