Popis:	Isolation and identification of sterols from culture extracts of the fungus Aureobasidium (Dematium) pullulans yielded metabolites with key function in sterol synthesis. By proof of squalene, lanosterol/dihydrolanosterol, desmosterol, ergosterol, cholesterol, stigmasterol and β-sitosterol it was possible to work out a general synthesis-scheme for the building-up of sundry sterols in Ascomycetes.
