Mixed polycarbonates have been prepared by interfacial polymerization of the bisphenols 2,2-di-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane (DMPP), 1,1-di-(4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexane (DPC), 5,5-di-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4, 7-methanohexahydroindane (DPHMI), di-(4-hydroxyvanilidene) acetone (DVA), di-(4-hydroxyvanilidene)cyclohexanone (DVCH) and mixtures of these, with phosgene and mixtures of phosgene with the di-(acid chloride) of azidoisophthalic acid (AIPC). The composition of the polymers was determined by high resolution NMR. It is shown that copolycarbonates from DVCH and DHPP are enriched with DHPP units and a polycarbonate from DVA and DHPP with DVA units. In copolymers from phosgene, AIPC and DHPP it was found that the distribution of phosgene and AIPC radicals corresponds to the ratio of these acid chlorides in the reactant mixture. |
