Popis: The paper investigates the channel congestion algorithm in cellular network against real traffic data. The data were obtained from a cellular network operator including the initial number of channels and the load demand. A prior channel number is defined to a predicted load demand at the planning process. The work evaluates the channel congestion and the behavioural user redial effect on the network employing the uniform redial model, and analyses the induced excess traffic load in Ghana, based on the conditional probability that the customer has already redialled and failed. The effective load is calculated from the assumption of repeated redials. The analyses have illustrated that the effective load may be less than the measured load. This is an indication that there may be some amount of excess traffic on the network. This may indicate that the higher the redial probability and the more redials are introduced onto the network therefore the redialling at a higher probability may increase the blocking probability on the network.
