Popis: For many processes in aqueous systems the details of the molecular structure of water may safely be ignored. However, when dealing with dimensions in the range from colloidal particles to molecular dimensions (say 1 µm to 1 A) it becomes necessary to pay careful attention to structural aspects of the aqueous environment. Thus, in dealing with the sedimentation of clays and other minerals as well as when describing fine-grained sediments both bulk and interfacial water structures play a role.
