The influence of 3 series of acids (monocarboxylic and bicarboxylic aliphatic, and monosubstituted aromatic) on the permeability of imipramine through a dimethyl-polysiloxane membrane was determined. All the series of acids give an increase of the permeability as a consequence of an ion-pair formation. Hansch and Free-Wilson statistical approaches were applied to correlate permeability constants with physicochemical and structural parameter, respectively, of the acids. Hansch analysis shows the importance of hydrophobic factors. Free-Wilson analysis allows to calculate the contributions of structural features to the ion-pair permeability. |
