Popis:	By using two different isotopically labelled precursors and ion exchange aminoacid analysis, it is shown that the methyl group of methionine is incorporated into e-N-mono-, di- and trimethylated derivatives of lysine found in the free state in the cells of Neurospora crassa. The possibility that lysine methylation can take place not only via protein bound-lysine but also directly on the free aminoacid, or a derivative is considered.
