Popis: | The R-matrix-Floquet theory is a non-perturbative ab initio approach which can be used to analyse in a unified way the various multiphoton processes occurring in atomic or molecular systems interacting with intense laser fields. The method is applicable to an arbitrary atom or molecule, and allows the inclusion of electron correlation effects. After reviewing the basic concepts and recent developments of the theory, we discuss some illustrative results. These include multiphoton ionization rates obtained for a number of atoms and ions and for the hydrogen molecule, laser-induced degeneracies in complex atoms, harmonic generation rates and differential cross-sections for laser-assisted electron–atom collisions. Finally, possible future applications and extensions of the theory are considered. |
