Popis:	A direct method for the synthesis of N -phosphanyl-heterocyclic carbenes is described. The method is based on the reaction of lithium imidazolides and benzimidazolides having a bulky alkyl group at the nitrogen atom with di( tert -butyl)chlorophosphine leading directly to the carbenes.
