In this chapter, we explore how Latin Americans negotiate and claim their place in the city; we use the metaphors of routes, routines and roots to give voice to those Latin Americans whose journey into and across Europe is as much physical as it is about new ways of belonging and developing a new sense of place. The narratives we include in this chapter capture processes of relocation, endurance and resettlement. We explore how Latin Americans make their way into London, how they navigate across the city and how they explain feelings of belongingness to, and detachment from, London. |
