The first purpose of this article is to remind those who teach family science courses that the digital divide does exist and must be taken into account whenever online activities are added to a class. The second purpose of is to propose one method that individual professors can use to reduce, if not eliminate, the impact of the divide in a college course setting. The proposed method involves the creation of collaborative work groups with membership rosters that are diverse in terms of their access to and skills in using computers and related technology. The groups must also be diverse in terms of their enthusiasm for technology and their willingness to technology that is available for technological purposes. The third purpose is to invite those who find themselves in similar situations to explore the proposed method of dealing with inequities in access to and knowledge of computers and related technology in order to determine the extent to which it has more general applicability.
