Popis: | Polarization behavior of the Ni-200 electrode in 75 pct Na2S-25 pct Fes at 1000 C under H2-0.32 pct H2S at 1 atm is linear over an overpotential range of -600 to 600 mV and is consistent with resistance polarization in the electrolyte. Similar polarization behavior of the 304 stainless steel eletrode and of the Ni-200 electrode in 85 pct Na2S-15 pct NiS suggests that the charge transfer mechanism is a sulfide/polysulfide exchange reaction. Nonelectrodic dissolution of nickel in the 75 pct Na2S-25 pct FeS melt occurs at 1.6 x 10 to the -6th g/sq cm s, apparently due to oxidation by H2S. Anomalously high dissolution rates are attributed to trace polysulfide. 25 references. |
