Popis: | Women comprise over 55% of all UK medical students, yet only 11% of orthopaedic consultants, associate specialists and higher surgical trainees are women. Gender imbalance at congresses has been noted in other specialties such as emergency medicine and intensive care. The BOA annual congress was therefore analysed to determine if similar gender disparities existed in the UK in orthopaedics. To increase the number of female role models in surgery, we need to amplify the visibility of female surgeons. |
