This paper presents a comprehensive design and implementation of a DFIG (Doubly Fed Induction Generator) for a micro-level WECS (Wind Energy Conversion System). The design is carried out for a 3.7 kW doubly fed induction machine with the reduced power conditioning circuit requirements. The control algorithm is implemented using a DSP (Digital Signal Processor). The GSC (Grid-Side Converter) is controlled using the PBT (Power Balance Theory) to maintain constant dc link voltage and the power factor control of the system at the grid. The MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) is achieved using the RSC (Rotor-Side Converter) with a decoupled electromagnetic torque and stator reactive power control. Detailed experimental results are presented to validate the design of DFIG based micro-level WECS. |
