Background: Included in the group of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) by the Ministry of Health of Brazil, obesity is characterized by the accumulation of excessive body fat, triggering a series of damages to health. Having multifactorial causes, it often requires a multiprofessional intervention. Objective: To evaluate the reduction in weight, BMI (body mass index) and waist circumference (WC) in sedentary obese women treated with auriculotherapy.Methodology: Clinical case series report, with 5 (five) sedentary women from 15 to 68 years old, who received 4 (four) sessions of auriculotherapy, 1 (once) once a week. The chosen acupoints were: CNS, kidney, ANS, stomach, right hunger, left hunger, large intestine, left ear pancreas, addiction and anxiety. BMI, WC and weight were evaluated before the beginning and after the fifth (final) week of treatment. Results: The BMI of the group ranged between 27.6 and 49.7. Of the volunteers, 4 reduced weight and BMI, and 1 did not. Abdominal circumferences remained unchanged. The mean weight reduction of the group was 3.10%, the BMI was 4.23%.Conclusion: There was a reduction in weight and BMI in 80% of the volunteers, although discreet. |
