Popis: | Chondrosarcoma is a malignant cartilage-forming tumor of bone. It represents a spectrum of disease defined by histologic confirmation of a cartilaginous neoplasm in the correct clinical and radiographic context. Chondrosarcomas are classified as primary if they arise de novo from bone and secondary if they develop from the malignant transformation of a preexisting benign lesion. The most common primary histopathologic type is termed “conventional”; rare variants of primary chondrosarcoma include clear cell, juxtacortical, mesenchymal, and dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma. The most common precursor lesions in secondary chondrosarcoma are osteochondromas, but it can also arise in the setting of Ollier disease and Maffucci syndrome. |
