Popis: The partial oxidation of ethene using Ag/Al and Ag/a-Al2O3 catalysts was performed in microchannel reactors applying high C2H4 and O2 partial pressures within the explosion range. Recent investigations revealed different catalytic properties of bulk silver and silver coated aluminum. Thus, the effect of the Ag layer thickness on the selectivity and conversion of sputter-coated Ag/Al surfaces was investigated. Furthermore, the influence of the oxygen and ethene partial pressures on the selectivity and conversion was subject of concern, because it showed impossible to perform those experiments with fixed bed catalysts in tube type reactors. Finally, a comparison of both catalytic surfaces was carried out.
