Although hit probability scores in the CTT were lower than scores from the standard outdoor range, they were similar in slope to scores obtained earlier at the Army Training Center, Fort Jackson, SC. That is, the relative difficulty of hitting targets at different distances is effectively the same in the CTT as it was at Fort Jackson. CTT performance was in general more internally consistent and better controlled and required fewer resources than did the outdoor range firing. Correlation between the practice record fire scores and record fire scores was substantially higher in the CTT than on the outdoor range. However, the correlation between CTT and the outdoor range scores was not significant; this was probably due to the unreliability of the outdoor range scores. Scores on the paper-and-pencil tests did not correlate well enough with marksmanship scores to be useful as predictors of performance. |
