Popis: | Flood storage reservoirs are generally empty for most of the time and therefore provide some interesting, and often challenging, problems for their effective maintenance. There are a growing number of these reservoirs as the investment into flood risk management infrastructure continues to increase and there are useful lessons to be learned from the design of existing reservoirs and the maintenance issues that they pose. This paper examines some of the principal elements of these reservoirs and the problems affecting their maintenance. It considers how attention to the design or modification of them can provide for improved and more effective maintenance while at the same time affording safer working conditions for those performing the maintenance. |
