Popis: Big Data and generally accepted statistical knowledge are at the center of many decisions and rulings in US courts. Even in circumstances where statistics and Big Data knowledge are generally accepted, fact finders still need to be aware of, and in some instances scrutinize, the underlying assumptions of this generally accepted knowledge. In addition, the use of Big Data has grown dramatically in the last decade and many organizations are reliant on third parties to meet their actual or perceived data needs. In these instances, a customer cannot test drive and check under the hood of a Big Data solution and is at the mercy of a software vendor’s product. This chapter illustrates the major issues with the use of Big Data.
