The adenomatous polyps formed from the inner lining of the colon and rectum generally transform into cancer, and this makes up to 96% of colorectal cancer formations. There are local and systemic therapies available as per the stage of cancer. But secondary complication associated with these drugs is the major drawback associated with these. The plants because of their biodiversity are rich in phytochemicals that have therapeutic applications. Numerous phytochemicals exhibit anticancer activity. This chapter reviews the various phytochemicals that show higher efficiency and efficacy in the treatment of colorectal cancer with special emphasis on their mechanism of action. |
