Popis: In bacterial phototrophs, the light-induced oxidation of a reaction center (RC) bacteriochlorophyll dimer (P+) ultimately reduces a quinone pool (Q-pool) which is subsequently oxidized by a cytochrome bc 1 complex. To generate chemical energy from subsequent photons of light, P+ must be reduced to the ground state. This cyclic electron transport is linked to formation of a proton electrochemical gradient (▵μH +) which is used to drive ATP synthesis.
