Popis: | Anemia is a common problem among critically ill patients that the majority of them need blood transfusion during their stay in the ICU. Nearly 2/3rd of patients admitted to an ICU have hemoglobin levels of 10 g/dl or lower. Intraoperative blood loss and gastro intestinal hemorrhage are a frequent reason for administering transfusions. Hemoglobin levels at or above 10 g/dl may be important for oxygen delivery to vital organs, especially in critically ill patients with increased oxygen demands. |
