Popis: | This work reports on recent progress in our feasibility assessment of the microwave radar prototype aimed at tumor detection through frequent breast screening. The previously reported time-domain system has 16 antenna-sensors in a multistatic arrangement. The phantoms used in our study are stable and carbon-based. With updated hardware, we now test the prototype to address an issue vital for our long-term clinical trials. Using phantoms in a controlled laboratory environment, we assess the influence of the miniature clip, typically left in the tissue as a marker after a biopsy, on the overall ability of our system to screen the patient frequently post-biopsy. This line of investigation is essential for the population of women with dense breast tissue, where the mammograms struggle to give reliable results and hence the biopsy is used as a follow-up procedure. |
