Popis: | In the present review, we present the history and future of texaphyrins, pentaaza Schiff base macrocycles with an expanded 5-coordination sphere, possessing chelation prowess of 24 different stable 1:1 complexes. Intrinsically unique photophysical and magnetic properties of metallotexaphyrins have enabled a broad spectrum of applications, resulting in multiple clinical phase trial evaluations of these compounds. The combination of texaphyrins with nanotechnology underscores the promising future of these materials, which aims to resolve inherent limitations of molecular counterparts in a nanovehicle. |
