On model reduction and iterative calculation of optimal output feedback gains

Popis: In this paper the iterative algorithm of Anderson and Moore (1971) for the calculation of optimal output feedback gains in linear systems is handled. We have experimented with the optimal state feedback gains of a suitably reduced model as the initial guess for the iteration. In all of our experiments we observed persistently that the subsequent iteration was of little use, since either the initial guess was already almost optimal, or the iteration failed. In the latter case the iteration failed also with any other initial guess.
