Popis: This paper describes both theoretical and experimental investigations of the error behaviour of cryo current comparators (CCC) as a function of the geometric parameters of the superconducting shields. The basis of our calculations has been the attenuation of magnetic fields by a superconducting coaxial cavity. The theoretical results agree with experiments which have been performed on a special test configuration of a CCC. Its main feature is a toroidal shield made from mercury with an elongated gap region forming the coaxial cavity. The results obtained are applicable to all types of CCCs. We found that the superconducting coaxial cavity behaves like a filter which transmits only the useful signal containing information about the net current linkage. All other fields contributing to the error of the comparator are attenuated exponentially.
