The John Deere spraying unit was replaced with a Marco system equipped with a roller pump powered by a 3 hp Briggs and Stratton gasoline engine. Spray applications were made at a speed of 4.5 mph, at 40 lb/in2 , with a total of 5 gal/acre through one no. 8 hollow cone nozzle per row. Applications were made 4, 10, 18, 25, and 31 Aug. for Test 1; 3, 10, 18, 25, and 31 Aug. for test 2; and 11, 18, and 24 Aug. for Test 3. Plots were irrigated with approximately 1 inch of water per irrigation.
