| Popis: | Interferential therapy is a therapeutic modality that has been used for the past several decades, with little empirical evidence to support its continued use within the clinical setting. The purpose of this review paper is to discuss the current clinical application of interferential therapy with reference to its analgesic potential and possible mechanism(s) of action. There is not a large base of literature for interferential therapy (especially compared with transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation; a modality with similar methods of application), thus it is not possible to provide a systematic review owing to inconsistencies in reported clinical protocols. |
