Popis: Confidence interval estimation using the folded logarithmic (FL) transformation of maximum likelihood (ML) estimators is considered. The FL-based interval is found to have a smallerwidth and a larger confidence coefficient than the ML-based interval in most cases. Also, any a priori knowledge concerning the parameter values can be utilized to improve the precision of the FL-based interval. Computer simulation studies involving certain epidemiologic indices further emphasize the desirability of using the FL-based interval.
