Popis: Perez Morales & al. (1991) designated a lectotype for the name Doronicum carpetanum Boiss. & Reuter ex Willk. (in Willkomm & Lange, 1865: 108) that refers to a member of a complex Iberian group which may include up to four species (Chac6n, 1987; Perez Morales & Penas Merino, 1990; Perez Morales & al., 1994). The herbarium sheet with the chosen type bears two plants as Perez Morales & al. (1991) indicated but, contrary to what they asserted, they are not part of the same collection. Each has its own label indicating a particular origin. While both specimens do represent the same species, Doronicum carpetanum as currently accepted, the one on the left the proposed lectotype is not the plant collected in the Sierra de Guadarrama by Boissier & Reuter and annotated as "Doronicum carpetanum " as Perez Morales & al. (1991) stated, but is from the "Sierra de Gredos" and was collected by Isern (both being cited by Willkomm in the protologue of D. carpetanum). Fortunately, it is unnecessary to argue whether the designated plant or the cited label data carry more weight, and whether such a flawed type designation is effective at all, since a previous and flawless one exists. This was proposed by Chac6n (1987: 267) in a paper including the original description of D. kuepferi Chacon, which discussed the same complex D. carpetanum group and, additionally, proposed a lectotype for Willkomm's binomial. Chac6n, who must be followed under Art. 9.13 of the Code, selected the specimen "que lleva la etiqueta: Doronicum carpetanum / Boiss. & Reut. (mss. Boissier) // Sierra de Guadarrama / Boissier & Reut. (impr.) Pefia Lara (mss. Boissier) / Julio 1858 (impr.)", i.e., the right-hand plant on the same sheet mentioned above.
