Popis: Changes in the yield and composition of hemicelluloses from the underground organs (xylopodia) of Ocimum nudicaule were investigated. Hemicelluloses constituted about 12% of the delipidized powder in sprouting and about 30% in dormant phases. Xylose is the major component of hemicelluloses A and B (and is also present in C), followed by arabinose, galactose. glucose, rhamnose and mannose. The amounts of hemicellulose B decreased by six times between dormancy and sprouting, whereas the yields of hemicelluloses A and C remained constant
