INVESTIGATION OF REGIONAL DISPARITIES WITHIN NEW EU MEMBER COUNTRIES

Popis:	In the paper, the potential possibilities of particular NUTS2 regions of new 12 EU member countries (NEU12) to converge to more economic advanced EU regions are identified. The identification of mentioned possibilities is realized on the basis of the multidimensional 55 NUTS2 classification according to the initial GDP level and average GDP growth rate in the time period 1998--2004. The results of realized analyses show that from the point of view of balancing socio-economic disparities it is possible to talk rather about divergence tendencies of the economic level of the new EU member regions than convergence tendencies.
