Popis: | The Internet of Things (IoT) is a popular concept that intends connecting a large number of physical objects to exchange data between one another. However, the huge volume of data exchanged, the existence of resource constrained devices, heterogeneity and mobility support, challenge the design of a good network in term of performance in IoT environment. Recently, Named Data Networking (NDN) is proposed as a promising networking architecture for future Internet to effectively distribute the massive amount of automated data. NDN which features naming for communication, security, in-network caching and mobility support makes it more suitable for IoT. In this paper, we study the potential behind using the NDN in IoT environment by discussing the main beneficial NDN features for IoT. Subsequently, we discuss the proposed NDN-based IoT applications encountered in the literature, based on that we propose a taxonomy of different applications. Furthermore, we present a comprehensive survey on NDN based content forwarding strategies for NDN-IoT environments with appropriate classification. |
