Popis: INTRODUCTION As a teacher of up to 260 medical students at a time I have found it important to provide a performance which elicits and maintains interest. I write this chapter from an educational perspective and as someone with an enthusiasm for drama and performance. I have taken acting classes but I do not profess to be an actor or professionally trained in theatre or drama. I have a musical background through singing, recording and performing some years ago through which I learnt voice projection skills, breathing control and dance. Acting classes have introduced me to roles such as William’s Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire and Mrs Cheveley in Wilde’s An Ideal Husband. I have found that acting has enhanced my teaching, for example, in terms of vocal expression and breathing control, facilitating a more confi dent and assured delivery.
