Popis: | Infrared chemiluminescence was observed from vibrationally excited HF when mixtures of HF/O2/F2 were flash photolyzed over the wavelength region 2500–3500 A. We have interpreted this excitation as being the result of termolecular recombination reactions involving F atoms. A simple kinetic model was derived to explain these observations and a comparison of model predictions to the observed time resolved chemiluminescence signals showed reasonable agreement. Based on this model, third order kinetic rate constants for the reaction F+O2+M→FO2+M at 298 °K were determined and are 5.0±0.6, 15±3, 8.4±0.9, 5.4±0.6, and 2500±500×10−33 cm6/molecule2 sec for M=F2, O2, Ar, He, and HF, respectively. The rate constant for M=DF was found to be about two times slower than that of HF. |
