Popis: We performed four operative treatments for 119-fractures of the tibial shaft. These included Ender's nailing, Kuntscher's rod, plating and external fixation. We investigated healing time and complications such as infection, pseudarthrosis and malunion in these cases.Plating was mainly used in osteomyelitis cases. Kuntscher's rod gave good fixation and early bone union as in Ender's nailing, but we was associated with some complications such as infection. Ender's nailing is the best treatment for fracture of the tibial shaft, because of resistance to infection. Consequently we think it can also be indicated for treating open fractures classfied as Gastilo grade three, even with no signs of infection.
