Popis: Brain paroxysmal activity (BPA) is considered a complex of symptoms viewed as a manifestation of disturbed electrical activity in the brain tissue caused by a variety of nervous disorders, including epilepsy (1). Epilepsy is a condition accompanied by different types of seizures that vary widely in severity, appearance, causes and consequences (2). There are certain difficulties in objective laboratory diagnostics of early BPA and epilepsy. The occurrence of epilepsy in the population is about 50 per 10.000 persons in the industrialised world. About 8% of the general population have at least a few BPA attacks or one seizure in their lifetime.
